Creating My Website
It’s not all my fault. I believed the stuff they shoveled in my direction. Mwaaaaaa! Every single one of them. Advertisers told me that I could get a website up in 10 minutes, no problemo. Just point at what you want. grunt at it, and poof – your website is done. I’m here to tell you, no, no you can’t silly designer. sighs
Life Lessons
As I’ve learned from wandering the house, while untangling the yarn that Sparrow left out for me (and keep relearning), everything takes time. No exceptions. If you want your website up in 10 minutes, you’ll have to settle for someone else’s idea of what you need. See the problem? I could get A website up, just not the one I wanted for BrenJS Knits.
Same rules apply to knitting and designing. Working on my site wreaked havoc with my knit design schedule. The last knitting pattern I released was the Kimono Moon Shawl back in March. Feeling guilt and pressure, I said “Hey, bet I can get out a quick pattern in a month.” Uh, no, no I can’t. LOL!!! See life lesson above.
Although I have the experience to do so, I really didn’t have the time to get a pattern done. I am also running a 5 week Kimono Moon Shawl Knit-a-long (ends 5/25) that also took up lots of time. Putting out high quality patterns is more important to me than playing the numbers game.
I’m happy to report that my website is almost done! It won’t be perfect, but it’s hella lot better than the 10 minute version would have been. And…I now have the time to put back into designing knitting patterns for you! I have a couple of shawls in my brain and a cute tank top that are dying to get on your needles.
