10 Tips for Holiday Gift Knitting
Reducing Holiday Stress for Knitters
Holiday knitting. Love it or hate it?
Every year I think I’m going to start my holiday knitting in July. Ha ha ha ha! Pfffff. Never happens.
Right now there are only a few more Saturdays until Christmas.
I haven’t started. Can you tell by the look on my face?
Have you started?
I thought some tips for holiday gift knitting might help some of you craft all those gifts on time and reduce your stress. And so that you don’t look crazed like I do in the photo.
Here’s your 10 Tips for Holiday Gift Knitting
- Make a list of knitworthy recipients.
- Pick something small and quick to knit. Hats, fingerless gloves, and smaller cowls are perfect! (Check out my Payhip store or Ravelry store for these wonderful small knits).
- Stick with what you know. I love a new knitting technique, but eats up a lot of time and can increase your frustration.
- Use the same pattern or two for everyone. You’ll have that pattern memorized in no time and the knitting will be more relaxing.
- Use a variety of yarn colors and textures to make each gift different.
- Add bling like pom poms, tassels, or buttons to make each knit unique. They are quick to make but can also be purchased.
- For our dearest ones, use premium yarns like silk blends, cashmere, or mohair.
- To gift biggrer items like shawls search for a pattern that uses chunky or bulky yarn for super quick knitting.
- New to knitting? Use a simple pattern with a plain stitch (garter stitch) and knit it with variegated yarn. The yarn will do all the work to make your gift look fancy.
- Hot pads, facial scrubbies, and smaller items tied up with a bow make great gifts that are also easy for beginners to knit.
Keep checking back, I’ll be posting more tips for holiday or gift knitting in December.
