Avery Shores Cowl
Is this cowl right for you?
You’re gonna love wearing and knitting the Avery Shores Cowl. It looks like a big gorgeous shawl in the front, but surprise – it’s not. It’s so much easier to wear and style than a shawl.
I have spent so much time trying to get a traditional triangle shawl to look good. I can do it, but it takes me awhile and it can get frustrating. That’s one good reason I and my knitters love to wear bandana cowls like the Avery Shores Cowl. Just put it on. No need to fuss with it.
While you’ll get the dramatic look of a shawl, it uses much less yarn. Normally there would be two ends to the shawl to wrap around your neck at least 1 or two times. Not so with a cowl! There’s nothing to wrap around. So it lays nicely on the back of your neck. You don’t have to worry about it bunching up into a hump when you put your coat on.
Less yarn means that this project costs less to make than a shawl! And less yarn means – you can knit this up quickly. Now add in the worsted weight yarn and it gets even quicker.
Put it on and it’s effortless to make it look great. Wear it spread out over your shoulders or just gather it up around your neck and let it cascade down the front. This cowl will stay put all day long.
But is this knit right for you? You should only buy my patterns if they are a good fit for you. That could mean an enjoyable knit, a quick knit. It could mean that it’s the type of accessory you enjoy wearing. I wrote some things out to help you decide.
Avery Shores Cowl is perfect for you if:
- You love shawls but suck at styling them (somedays I just can’t do it).
- You want a quick easy knit, but not a boring one.
- You like an intuitive lace repeat (10 stitches and most of them are knits!).
- Want to spend less time and use less yarn knitting one project.
- You like to cast-on very few stitches.
- You enjoy working with thicker (worsted) yarn and needles.
This cowl may not be right at this time if:
- You prefer to wear a shawl and love all that extra fabric.
- You don’t enjoy wearing things that have to fit over your head.
- You want a project you can knit while meditating.
- You want a knit to challenge every brain cell you have.
- You prefer lace on every square inch of your knitting.
